Better Together: Thursday ‘Faculty Open Office Hours’
As we transition from pedagogical ‘design’ to ‘delivery’, we have decided to shift our summer Better Together programming to better suit the needs of facilitators and participants. For the month of September, we will hold ‘Faculty Open Office Hours’ where faculty and teaching staff from across the Maple League are invited to log-in and discuss the topic and how it relates to their work. Maple League Hosts: External Speaker Series
On Wednesday, September 16 beginning at 11:00 am Eastern / 12:00 noon Atlantic, join us for our September Maple League Hosts: Naming, Claiming and Aiming our Teaching Discomforts.
Join Dr. Shannon Murray (UPEI), Dr. Lisa Dickson (UNBC), and Dr. Jessica Riddell (Bishop’s), as they discuss how to name, claim and aim teaching discomforts. As we navigate the Fall 2020 semester in the midst of a global pandemic, many of us are climbing a very steep learning curve that challenges our sense of competency and our identity as teachers. In this webinar, we ask how we can “name, claim and aim” (Parker Palmer) our effective responses to this rapid and radical “retooling” of our teaching to learn about ourselves and our students in a time of crisis. How can we “step back” to reflect on our own responses and engage meta-cognitively with difficult learning in order to make our practice more intentional, compassionate, and empathetic?

MLTLC Book Club
Based on the tremendous community interest in anti-racist teaching and learning across the Maple League universities, we are pleased to announce Fall 2020 Maple League Book as part of our ongoing book club series each term:
We invite all Maple League community members (including, but not limited to faculty, teaching staff, staff, student affairs, students – in short, everyone!) to register. We plan to meet every two weeks over the fall term (with 2-3 chapters discussed per facilitated session).
We endeavour to make this as accessible as possible. Limited financial assistance is available for students, contract faculty, staff, and others who might have limited means.
